48 Ways to Grill Like a Pro
Ahhh, Daytona! Warm sun – always welcome when you live in Pittsburgh like I do, palm trees swaying in the breeze, and the smell of great food grilling as you drive through the infield at Daytona International Speedway.
While the 52nd running of the Daytona 500 gets the main billing, second place goes to grilling and enjoying Speedweeks in the sun.
We want to salute Jimmie Johnson’s 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup championship and raise a toast to the team as they kick off the 2010 season. But how can you add that championship style to your cookout? Here are a few simple tips:
Get a great grill. For racetrack grilling, consider the Weber Q 120 LP Gas Grill. The portable design allows for tabletop cooking with a large cooking surface to accommodate a rack of ribs.
For grilling on a budget, try the Char-Broil Gas Tabletop Grill. It offers durable steel construction and enough space for eight pieces of BBQ chicken. Don’t forget Blue Rhino propane for the gas grill or for RVs that need propane for water heaters and cooking systems.
For traditional charcoal flavor, check out the Weber Smokey Joe. Add Kingsford Matchlight charcoal – which doesn’t need lighter fluid – and great grilling taste is minutes away.
Stock up on supplies. Don’t forget the long-handled tools and grilling mitts you need to grill in style and safety. Also good are large-size garbage bags and new super-size coolers with wheels.
Accessorize with Championship gear. Show your Team 48 pride with a new 4x Champion flag flying above your campsite, along with Team 48 pennants, chairs, rugs and other décor. You have a right to show off!
We would also like to recognize the culinary talents of the Team Lowe’s Racing members who cheer on Jimmie every weekend. If you have a special race day recipe for the grill – or any perfect side dish or dessert -- that you would like to share, let us know.
